MAS DE BRET

In Saint-Étienne-du-Grès, lies this 2-hectare new Domaine. It sits in the little valley of the Alpilles National Park where olive trees and lavender fiends co-exist. The valley has been a land under vines for centuries, however the vagaries of life had let to their vines being uprooted.

Jean-Luc Placet, owner of Mas de Bret, aimed to recreate a vineyard on this on its extraordinary terroir. Its vines, resulting from mass selection were planted in 2013. The estate is organically farmed with plantings of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsault. Its limestone soil, the influence of the mistral and its biodiversity makes the Alpilles it ideal for producing area for this quality wine. Horses are used to work the vines in respect to the environment and for minimal impact to its terroir.

From the onset, Mas de Bret was supervised by the renowned person and winery in the Alpilles, Mr. Éloi Dürrbac of Domaine de Trevallon. His Domaine is located 6 kilometres from Mas de Bret. He brought all his experience in the vineyards and in the cellar during vinification.
