Yves Gangloff is undoubtedly an artist, imbuing their wines with a unique sensitivity, a singular inspiration that makes them eminently poetic.
It was a bit by chance and a lot out of love that this rock enthusiast, guitarist in his spare time, settled down at the end of the 1970s near Condrieu. At the time, this Alsatian by birth decided to visit his brother, Pierre, a painter installed with his gouaches and brushes in a room of the Château d'Ampuis (not yet the property of the Guigal family at the time). His meeting with Mathilde, a young Viennese woman who would become his wife, radically changed the course of his life. The man who had "only a Kerouac book in his pocket, a guitar slung over his shoulder and no qualifications" then realized that Mathilde and he could not be content to live on love and fresh water. It was by joining Delas as a farm worker that he would gradually learn the basics of the winegrower's trade on the steep slopes of Condrieu and the Côtes-Rôties. At the same time, a local winemaker, Gaston André, offered to give Yves and Mathilde a few vines and Domaine Gangloff adventure began. The couple sold most of their harvest to Guigal until late 80s, while experimenting their own in "homemade" winemaking and maturing them.
Yves and Mathilde decided to bottle their entire harvest in 1992. Within a few years, the wines signed by Gangloff became absolute references for lovers of Condrieu and Côte-Rôties. The Gangloffs have continued, since then, to acquire and plant new plots in Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie and, more recently, in Saint-Joseph.
After Mathilde's premature death in 2011, Yves courageously continued to write the history of this now cult estate, with the help of his daughter Elsa and son-in-law, Aurélien. Far from applying any recipe, Yves has always continued to develop the style of his wines – making living and sensitive wines.
These precious bottles now offer a profile that is sensual, refined and invigorating. Offering perfect sensation of harmony and fullness. Wines of astonishing depth and internal
